This year's tour features 5 well loved homes in historic downtown Murphy, ranging in age from the mid 1800s to early 1950s, and in styles from Craftsman to high style Queen Anne. Tickets are $10 per tour guest, and available in town in advance and on the day of the tour at the Valley River Merchants building (the old Badcock location by the service station on Valley River Avenue)

Promote public awareness, education and good stewardship of the community’s natural, historic and cultural resources. Serve as a planning, educational, and community-initiated development resource to conserve and renew these unique assets for the benefit of many generations to come.

Benefit the community by strengthening its sense of place, and by attracting a sustained base of heritage, ecological and agricultural tourism.

The Murphy River Walk- a multi phase walking trail & green way project following the Valley and Hiwassee Rivers surrounding the historic town center of Murphy. Trail heads are currently located at Koneheta Park and at McClelland Street. The trail features historical sites, native plant life and a healthy trek around the historic town center, enjoyed by citizens and visitors alike.

And. . . the outdoor Ampitheater project is on the planning board for historic downtown Murphy and the Murphy River Walk route.

The Scenic Circle- an eco tourism publication providing guided tours to the area's beautiful natural attractions. The first edition now in its second printing, and by popular demand volunteer and published trail guide author Dr. Liz Carter authored The Scenic Circle II, released in August 2008. Copies are available for purchase at the Curiosity Shop book store in downtown Murphy, as well as The Cherokee County Welcome Center on 64.

The Heritage Walk & Festival- an annual Labor Day weekend event featuring historic walking tours, local and regional crafters and artisans, music, and agricultural heritage. The 9th annual will be held at Koneheta Park in Murphy, on Saturday, September 5, 2009.
